Bears To Seek Backup Tackle Via Trade Or Free Agency

Chicago Bears Place Rookie OT Braxton Jones on Injured Reserve

Bears to Seek Backup Tackle Via Trade or Free Agency

Rookie Tackle Suffered Ankle Injury in Practice

The Chicago Bears have placed rookie offensive tackle Braxton Jones on injured reserve due to an ankle injury sustained in practice. The move will sideline Jones for at least the first four games of the regular season.

The Bears are expected to explore options in both the trade and free agent markets to bolster their depth at tackle. Jones was expected to start at left tackle this season, but his injury has left a hole in the lineup.

The Bears have several options at their disposal, including veteran tackles Riley Reiff and Mike Remmers. Reiff has been with the Bears since 2021, while Remmers joined the team in 2022.

The Bears are also rumored to be interested in acquiring tackle Jawaan Taylor from the Jacksonville Jaguars. Taylor has started 44 games in his career and would provide the Bears with a proven commodity on the blindside.

The Bears have a bye in Week 4, which gives them some time to work through their options. However, they will need to make a decision soon, as the regular season is set to begin on September 11.
