Longtime Group Member Succumbs to Disease

51 Years of Country Music Success Cut Short

Joe Bonsall, the beloved tenor vocalist for the legendary country and gospel group, The Oak Ridge Boys, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2023, at the age of 76. He succumbed to complications from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a neurodegenerative disease that affects the brain and spinal cord.

Bonsall's distinctive voice and energetic stage presence have been mainstays of The Oak Ridge Boys for over 51 years. He joined the group in 1972 and quickly became an integral part of their success, helping them achieve numerous awards, including a Grammy Award and six Country Music Association Awards.

The group's hits include "Elvira," "Fancy," "Dream On," and "American Made," which have become staples of country music and have resonated with audiences for generations.
