Kawhi Leonard: LA Clippers Star to Miss FIBA World Cup

Kawhi Leonard will not play for Team USA in the upcoming FIBA World Cup, with Boston Celtics' Derrick White taking his place.

The 33-year-old Leonard is still recovering from knee surgery and is not yet ready to return to competitive basketball. Leonard is a two-time NBA champion and two-time NBA Finals MVP. He has also been named to the All-NBA First Team three times and the All-NBA Second Team four times.

Leonard's absence is a major blow to Team USA's chances of winning the gold medal. The United States is the defending champion and has won the last three FIBA World Cups.

The FIBA World Cup will be held in China from August 31 to September 15. Team USA will play in Group H alongside the Czech Republic, Japan, and Turkey.
