Tehran, Iran - A powerful earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale has struck the western province of Kermanshah, Iran, causing widespread damage and loss of life. According to initial reports, over 45,000 people have been killed and another 28,000 have been injured.

The earthquake struck at approximately 11:59 pm local time, with its epicenter located near the city of Sarpol-e Zahab. The quake was felt across the country and in neighboring Iraq and Turkey.
